This elegant Biedermeier slanted flap secretary from around 1815 impresses with its simple, strictly cubic design, which is typical of the early Biedermeier period. As a North German piece of furniture, it is characterized by a reduced design without elaborate decorations, which allows the beauty of the noble veneer to come to the fore.
The secretary was made from a grained mahogany-sapeli veneer applied to oak. The artistic craftsmanship is particularly evident in the continuous veneer - even across the crossbars, the elegant grain pattern remains harmonious.
A stylish detail are the key coat of arms made of ebony, which provide a subtle contrast to the warm mahogany tone of the furniture. The simple clarity of the design and the high-quality materials make this secretary an exquisite example of the early Biedermeier style.
inner workings
Behind the slanted flap lies a well-thought-out interior: six small drawers with ebonized knobs offer space for documents and writing utensils. In the middle there is a removable letter tray that offers additional storage space and flexibility.

Condition:
The secretary is in a restored and preserved condition. The surface was hand-polished from scratch with shellac, which brings out the original depth of the wood. The original locks have been preserved and are supplied with three newer keys. During the restoration, we deliberately decided to preserve the wear on the writing surface where the blind wood is visible, as it neither disrupts the functionality nor affects the writing surface. The writing surface will probably be the most used area of this secretary in your home too.
Whether as a collector's item or functional furniture - this slanted flap secretary combines aesthetic elegance with historical authenticity and craftsmanship perfection.
